Conference call

International Scanning Probe Microscopy (ISPM) Genova 2026 is the 24th in a series of international meetings featuring research on scanning probe microscopy (SPM) that began in Seattle in 1999. The last ISPM meeting in person, the first after the pandemic stop, was held in 2024 in Sapporo. ISPM attracts researchers from all over the world in different areas of academia, government, and industry.

The goal of ISPM is to communicate the latest developments and applications of SPM methods, particularly in biology, medicine and materials science.

SPMonSPM (Scanning Probe Microscopy on Soft and Polymeric Materials) is a conference series covering the full range of Scanning Probe Microscopy on soft matter.
Born with a focus on polymers as the materials of interest, SPMonSPM has then extended and moved on mainly to polymeric (bio)materials and living organisms.
The earliest editions were organized in The Netherlands (Kerkrade - 2012), in Canada (Toronto - 2014) and in China (Changchun - 2016). Since the 2020 edition in the US (Breckenridge, CO), SPMonSPM has been embedded in ISPM and the steering committees have merged. The last edition was held in 2024 in Japan (Sapporo).

Contributions to the scientific program regarding the following topics will be welcome:

  • SPM on single molecules
  • SPM on model biological systems
  • AFM on cells and multicellular systems
  • AFM in diseases
  • AFM in mechanotransduction and sensing
  • Multifrequency AFM approaches to nanomechanics
  • Correlative SPM microscopy
  • High-speed, ultra-fast SPM
  • SPM in nanometrology
  • SPM for energy research
  • SPM for quantum materials
  • Nanotribology: mechanisms, friction control, enabling materials
